Recognized with Three "We, Innovators" Awards of Taiwan (18th/19th/20th)
In traditional processes for developing health-promoting plant ingredients, the separation and extraction of bioactive compounds often required large quantities of toxic, non-biodegradable organic solvents. CHLOEX Biotech addresses this issue with its patented ultrasonic extraction technology, which utilizes green, designable solvents. These solvents are naturally derived, easy to prepare, cost-effective, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, serving as a sustainable alternative to conventional organic solvents. They can be used for extracting bioactive plant compounds, as well as for acting as carriers and mediums for pharmaceutical applications. Due to the varying natural properties of green solvents, preparation requires precise adjustment of parameters such as heating time, temperature, stability, and water-to-solvent ratio based on specific formulations. CHLOEX Biotech patented ultrasonic extraction equipment enables precise temperature control and continuous stirring. This system allows for the on-site preparation of green solvents directly within the production line, which are then delivered to the extraction tanks for use. This patented mass-production equipment and green solvent formulations represent the core proprietary technologies of CHLOEX Biotech.
Enviromental Extraction
Patented Ultrasonic Equipment Paired with Green Solvent Design
1. Modular Extraction Components and 'Variable Flow Rate'
By using a modular design for extraction components, the cost remains unchanged from small-scale sample preparation to large-scale production. This makes it suitable for the establishment of platforms for small-scale plant-based drug screening and R&D. Additionally, the use of a variable frequency motor and recirculation design adjusts the flow rate of the extraction liquid, addressing issues such as the high viscosity and low fluidity of green solvents, thereby enhancing the broad application of plant extraction parameter development.
2. Precise Temperature-Controlled Extraction
A disadvantage of ultrasonic extraction is the localized high temperatures that can cause thermal degradation. Our team has designed an extraction component with a temperature-controlled outer sleeve, using circulating cooling water to achieve temperature control. This precise temperature control allows the extraction process to be set between 15°C and 30°C, with a temperature deviation of less than 5°C, optimizing the most energy-efficient extraction conditions for developing active plant ingredients
3. Ultrasonic Series Design
Using only a single extraction tank for ultrasonic extraction results in poor extraction efficiency. Our team has developed a multi-tank series ultrasonic extraction system, where plant materials sequentially pass through multiple connected extraction tanks to achieve optimal extraction results. In the same unit of time, the average production capacity for extracting different plant materials is increased by more than 8 times
4. Optimization of Process Parameters
Our team's ultrasonic extraction system includes solvent pre-treatment, ultrasonic extraction, filtration, and concentration stages. The extraction time is significantly reduced, minimizing component degradation and contamination, while energy consumption is reduced by 40% compared to traditional extraction methods. The system allows for control over parameters such as frequency, intensity, and duration, enabling the customization of extraction processes based on specific plant active ingredients. This approach meets extraction demands and complies with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the United Nations' SDGs.
